KEEP IT CLASSIC

 

In my collection fabrics, I picked up 8 yards of this gorgeous Raspberry colored embroidered lace without knowing exactly what I was going to do with it. I toyed with the idea of making several high-waisted knicker sets with matching bras, a typical babydoll style, etc but these ideas never seemed quite right for this lace. It wasn't until I came across this amazing vintage 1940's Dressing Gown Pattern that I just knew I had to use the entire 8 yards to make this. It came out gorgeous - wide 40's sleeve, pointed lapel collars, waist tie to cinch in at the tiny spot, floor length sheer, naughty lacy goodness. You won't get to see what it looks like on until I shoot the collection in its entirety but my oh my, it is a lovely piece! xx.L

IT'S MIGHTY CRAZY

Where in the heck have I been? In an insane,  I repeat, absolutely insane sewing cave for custom orders. The first weeks of February were spent trying to balance working on pieces for my new collection, Client custom orders & of course my Vegas wardrobe. This all took an insane turn toward Client orders only as there was just too many (happily) to keep up with! I've got everybody ready for Vegas, everybody ready for their trip to London, Tucson, Los Angeles, Stage performances, etc and phew! I am exhausted! And I've missed you all!

I have so many lovely things to share with you. Its mighty crazy where this year has taken me already and I am so ready. Sewing needle & scissors in hand, tight wiggle skirt, tight sweater - I'm READY! xx.L

TULLE WITH MARIBOU & VELVET

I have been up to no good. I have been in the clouds dreaming up some pretty amazing things if I do say so myself. I have had these fabrics for a while and think about what to make out of them often. Many times I'll do sketches, jot notes down but I never really know exactly what I am going to make until I pull the fabric out and start draping it, or in some situations, I often dream of what it will be in my sleep. More times than most, its not until I am playing around with the fabric that I let the fabric guide me into what it wants to be. Such is the glory of making one of a kind pieces. For quite some time now, I have been falling in love all over again with a few inspiration sources (of course I'll fill you in later), and this babydoll slip is no exception. There was enough light pink champagne Maribou trim (I suppose we could call it Rose) left in the store to create this absolutely amazing hemline & strap detail, I am just giddy to reveal the entire look. The sheerest of sheer nude tulle, unbelievably naughty & yet so absolutely feminine with this color combination...take a sneak peek for yourself! xx.L

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

This year for many I have heard & including myself, has been truly remarkable. I think we have all had some amazing opportunities cross our path along with the usual not-so-fun occurrences or hurdles to jump but I think & am blessed to say that it has been a damn good year. For myself, my goals were entirely business related this year & for my small company, I seemed to get a lot accomplished! I launched a collection & did everything I ever wanted to create for that collection (which I never thought would happen), started a new collection, sold many orders one naughty bit at a time, worked very hard at my day job & was part of a beautiful clan of women that pushed our store to the top in the company, fell in love again & again with my favorite boy, had wonderful moments with my family and finally, had a dream come true which I hope to tell you all about soon enough. I will say this however, it is the oddest thing really to have a dream come true before your very eyes but it did not happen without seriously hard work & dedication to my craft along with all of the fabulous hands that were there when I needed them along the way. I always talk about the things in life that make me giggle, which as you know are many, however this time I am proud to say was probably the best giggle of all.

I want to thank you all for reading my little blog both the newbies & the vintage, I am very excited to see what this next year offers & I can say in absolute certainty, hopefully without jinxing myself (I'll just tap the wood of my desk in case), that big things are soon to happen. You all know I just LOVE pink technicolor, beautiful lingerie (and luckily all of the lingerie in this video is Agent Provocateur), and the scenes, the music, the story...gasp! What I do believe is that in every woman, she has a bit that is part lady, part vamp. This doesn't necessarily mean that you will ever get to see this side of her or perhaps you see plenty. But I really believe that somewhere, someone has this in her. Also, the vamp works in mysterious ways sometimes - perhaps we won't all use our charms like Ms. Lili in this photo but we all work in our own ways, perhaps strong at times, perhaps cheeky at times, perhaps many things more but I do hope that when something or someone comes along your path, you will remember that you've got a little bit of minx in you, while still being one hundred percent lady. xx.L

CAFE JACQUELINE

I've said it before & I'll say it again, there is no place in the world that is more special than Cafe Jacqueline. I don't even think there is even a hint of a place like so in Paris quite like this teeny tiny soufflé restaurant in North Beach. Not one where you can go back to the kitchen and chat with her or at least (which you must) go back to say "Merci" in your best french accent after another awe-inspiring meal. I'll take any excuse to go, even if it is to celebrate a birthday late (mine) & this time I got to show someone new this little spot of heaven, my Mama! We got to try the yellow peach for dessert for the first time - she only picks enough good seasonal fruit from the market that morning and will have either one or ten of what is available, you unless you get there early to select one of the seasonal, you will stick to the classics- twist my arm! The best part is, I've been going long enough that she knows who I am and simply asked "how are you lingeries?" whilst whisking away at someone's leek soufflés & we had a giggle over my sewing cave and her soufflé cave...both equally a place of hard work and much love. xx.L
